More tourists from Germany summer 2025

Burgas Airport expects 70% more tourists from Germany.
Burgas Airport expects an increase in the number of passengers from Germany this summer by about 70 percent, said the director of Burgas Airport Vasil Atanasov. According to him, the key factor in this is the partnership between the Bulgarian company Electra Airways and SunExpress. Thanks to the cooperation between them, three aircraft will be based in Burgas.

"One of them will fly only to Germany, to seven key destinations, so we have great hopes," the director of the airport added. Atanasov specified to BTA that the remaining two aircraft are planned to fly to Israel, Central and Eastern Europe. In May 2025, Burgas Airport welcomed the first flight under the contract concluded between the aforementioned companies.
On board the plane from Dusseldorf (Germany) were both tourists and travel agents, who told BTA that they were flying to our country to get acquainted with the vacation opportunities offered by Bulgarian resort villages. Some of them said that they were traveling to our country for long-planned business meetings. Electra Airways Director Stefan Trifonov said: “Last year we signed a contract with SunExpress to operate flights to Varna and Burgas. The goal is to bring German and Austrian tourists back to the Bulgarian Black Sea coast. The flights will continue until the end of the active summer season, approximately until mid-September.”

Regarding the departure of tour operator Balkan Holidays from the UK, Vasil Atanasov commented that they expect an increase in overall traffic this season by approximately 12 percent compared to last year. “We are monitoring the situation after the reshuffle and the departure of Balkan Holidays as a tour operator from the UK. We have already contacted all tour operators operating in this market and expect that this niche will be filled,” he added.
Atanasov predicts that this summer will most likely see a decline in the number of tourists from Israel.
